From SoCal to the East Coast, Fresno State sets football schedule through 2022

Fresno State football revealed its nonconference schedules for 2021 and 2022 on Monday, announcing that UConn and Cal Poly have been added to complete the schedules.

The Bulldogs will host UConn to start the 2021 season and make the return trip in 2022. Cal Poly will visit Bulldog Stadium a couple weeks after UConn does.

Here is a look at the nonconference schedules for the next three seasons:

2020

  • Sep. 5: Idaho State
  • Sep. 12: at Colorado 
  • Oct. 10: at Texas A&M
  • Oct. 17: New Mexico State

2021

  • Aug. 28: UConn
  • Sep. 4: at Oregon
  • Sep. 11: Cal Poly
  • Sep. 18: at UCLA

2022

  • Sep. 3: Sacramento State
  • Sep. 10: Oregon State
  • Sept. 17: at USC
  • Oct. 1: at UConn

UConn is leaving the American Athletic Conference to play as in independent starting next season. The Huskies have fallen on hard times recently, going 2-10 in 2019 and 9-39 since 2016. Fresno State and UConn have never played before.

Cal Poly plays in the lower-tier Football Championship Subdivision. Fresno State holds the all-time record 32-10-2.

Looking ahead to 2023-2026, Fresno State’s nonconference schedule consists solely of road games at Power 5 schools. The Bulldogs will play at Purdue and at Arizona State in 2023, at UCLA in 2024, at Oregon State in 2025 and at USC in 2026.
