Former Delano Police Chief Mark Derosia was arrested by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly contacting a minor for sex.
Derosia, 68, was booked into jail and charged with contacting and arranging with a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense.
Driving the news: The arrest came as a result of an operation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office’s Special Victims Unit, aimed at identifying individuals trying to contact minors for the purpose of engaging in sexual activities.
- Derosia allegedly engaged with an undercover agent posing as a 15-year-old, and conversations between them turned sexual. They arranged to meet for sex.
- The arrest of Derosia took place near Olive and Knudsen drives.
- He was booked into the Kern County the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Inmate Reception Center with bail set at $100,000.
- Derosia was previously fired as Delano police chief in November 2017, with no official comment made by city officials at the time regarding the dismissal.
