After clinching local titles, Central, Coalinga to host CIF playoff games

Two Valley football programs will host the opening round of CIF playoffs, while the rest are hitting the road.

Fresno’s Central High and Coalinga High are slated to host CIF regional football playoff games, while Lindsay, Kerman, and Selma will be hitting the road for their matches after catching CIF Central Section titles on Friday.

Playoff picture: Central High, who overcame a tough challenge from Clovis East in the Division 1 title game, will host St. Ignatius from San Francisco in a Division 1-A NorCal playoff game on December 7th at 6 pm at Koligian Stadium.

  • The winner of Central and St. Ignatius will compete for the state title against Granite Hills or Edison-Huntington Beach on December 13-14.
  • Meanwhile, Coalinga will host Highland-Palmdale in a South regional game on December 6th at 7:30 pm after defeating Shafter 34-33 in Division IV title game on Friday.

On the road: Kerman will play in Sonora in the North Division 4-A game following their 42-28 victory over Madera in Division III.

  • Selma secured a win over Morro Bay, earning a spot in the South Division 5-A game against Palmdale on December 6th at 6 pm.
  • Lindsay will be on the road for the state regionals, facing Chatsworth on December 6th at 7:30 pm in South Division 7-AA after blanking Mira Monte 28-0 in Division VI.
