Longtime Fresno State women’s basketball coach Jaime White announced Monday that she is retiring.
White leaves Fresno State after 11 seasons with the program, capping a career as a head coach that spanned nearly two decades.
A look at White’s tenure: White came to Fresno State ahead of the 2014-2015 season after eight years coaching Northern Colorado.
- She got off to a quick start with the program, leading the Bulldogs to back-to-back 20-win seasons in her first two years on the job.
- While the ‘Dogs came close to winning 20 games in each of the next three seasons, White led Fresno State to a 25-7 record and regular season Mountain West title in the 2019-2020 season. That performance earned her the honor of being named the Mountain West Coach of the Year in 2020.
- The Bulldogs were not able to recapture that success throughout the rest of White’s tenure, which included three consecutive losing seasons from 2021 to 2024.
- White leaves Fresno State with an overall record of 196-156, the second-most wins in program history. She was also the second-longest tenured coach in program history.
What they’re saying: “It has truly been a privilege and honor to be a part of the Fresno State family for more than a decade,” White said. “I am so grateful to the outstanding young women who have worn our uniform, to the incredible assistant coaches and support staff, and to the Fresno State fans and community who continue to support our athletic teams. The future is bright for Fresno State Athletics and for the women’s basketball program and I will be cheering on the Bulldogs in the years ahead.”
- Fresno State Athletic Director Garrett Klassy thanked White for her tireless service to the student-athletes and the university.
- “Jaime led our program with character and compassion and so many of her student-athletes have earned their degrees and gone on to impact their communities,” Klassy said. “We wish Jaime all of the best. We are committed to women’s basketball at Fresno State and with a passionate fanbase, generous supporters and a proud athletics tradition, I am confident that we will have strong candidates to consider.”
What we’re watching: Fresno State announced that a national search for the next women’s basketball head coach will begin immediately.
