Former Fresno State star Derek Carr is reportedly dealing with a shoulder injury that could sideline him for much of the upcoming season.
Carr has had to deal with injuries in recent years, including hand and oblique injuries last year that caused him to miss seven games with the New Orleans Saints.
The big picture: NFL Network reported Friday that Carr, who starred at quarterback for the Bulldogs from 2009-2013, is considering surgery to heal his shoulder.
- Carr’s long-term future with the Saints was already uncertain heading into the 2025 season.
- The Saints converted his salary into a signing bonus after new coach Kellen Moore was hired, signalling that Carr would return to the Saints for a third season.
What we’re watching: New Orleans now may decide to look for Carr’s successor in the upcoming NFL Draft, although former Bulldog Jake Haener could also have an opportunity to start if Carr misses time.
- The Saints hold the 9th overall pick in Thursday’s first round.
