Fresno Yosemite International Airport is getting expanded service from Southwest Airlines later this year.
The big picture: Southwest Airlines announced Thursday that it will offer nonstop flights daily between Fresno and San Diego International Airport.
- The route will begin on Oct. 2, and Southwest will join Alaska Airlines as the only carrier to offer nonstop service to San Diego.
Zoom out: Southwest first launched service out of Fresno in April 2021 decades after the first attempts were made to bring the carrier to the Central Valley.
- Southwest currently offers nonstop flights from Fresno to Las Vegas and Denver. The airline also offers seasonal service to Dallas Love Field.
