Fresno State strikes deal with Tioga-Sequoia for craft beer partnership

The university’s athletics programs will partner with a popular local craft brewery.

Fresno State has a craft beer partner for the first time in history. 

Local brewery Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Co. and Fresno State announced a new partnership on Friday for the brewery to be the craft beer partner of Fresno State Athletics.

The big picture: Tioga-Sequoia will receive media designations, in-venue and broadcast assets and placement within hospitality and fan experience at athletics events. 

  • The partnership will begin with the 2024-2025 football season in the fall. 
  • Tioa-Sequoia was founded in 2007 and has a leadership team including Fresno State alumnus Michael Cruz. 
  • Bulldog Sports Properties – operated by Learfield – negotiated the deal. 

What they’re saying: “This partnership, years in the making, brings together two Valley staples in Fresno State Athletics and all the pride, pageantry and tradition that we represent to our passionate Red Wave fan base, along with Tioga-Sequoia who, without question, proudly represents the Central Valley as the leading craft brewing company in our region,” said Frank Pucher, Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations. “We are excited for the future initiatives and opportunities this partnership will provide.” .

  • Cruz said he can’t express how excited he is to announce the partnership as a proud alumnus and fan. 
  • “A marriage between our two iconic Valley brands makes for something special, combining our fanbases to represent the peak of local pride within the Central Valley,” Cruz said. “Our deep roots and ties within the community will play a major role in up-and-coming projects and initiatives this 2024-25 season.
