Warriors assistant Dejan Milojevic dies from heart attack

The native of Belgrade, Serbia, played basketball internationally for 14 years before becoming a coach.

Dejan Milojevic, an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors, passed away Tuesday night at the age of 46. 

Milojevic suffered a heart attack while at a team dinner in Salt Lake City.

The big picture: Milojevic, a native of Serbia, is survived by his wife, Natasa, and children, Nikola and Masa. 

  • He was in his third season with the Warriors and helped lead the team to the NBA Championship in 2022. 
  • Wednesday’s game against the Utah Jazz has been postponed because of Milojevic’s passing. 

What they’re saying: “We are absolutely devastated by Dejan’s sudden passing,” said Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr. “This is a shocking and tragic blow for everyone associated with the Warriors and an incredibly difficult time for his family, friends, and all of us who had the incredible pleasure to work with him. In addition to being a terrific basketball coach, Dejan was one of the most positive and beautiful human beings I have ever known.”
