Firebaugh native and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen may be kicking off his fifth season in the NFL without a key player on his team.
Rumors have circulated for weeks that Allen split with his longtime girlfriend, Fresno native Brittany Williams. Those rumors intensified over the weekend when the two attended the Kentucky Derby separately.
In the huddle: Williams, a former Fresno State cheerleader, unfollowed the Bills signal caller on Instagram a few weeks ago.
- Saturday, amid the Mint Julep-fueled action at Churchill Downs, one of Williams’ pals posted a cryptic message on her Instagram Stories that read, “Now accepting husband applications @brittwilll.”
- The post intensified rumors that the couple had split up.
Transition point for Allen: The Bills have made several moves in the offseason, including signing running back Latavius Murray and drafting tight end Dalton Kincaid, to gear up for another run at the Super Bowl.
- Allen had a strong 2022 season, finishing third in NFL MVP voting with 4,283 passing yards and 35 touchdown passes, along with 762 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns. The Bills finished 13-3 and won the AFC East for the third straight year.
- The addition of Aaron Rodgers to the AFC East with the New York Jets could add more pressure to Allen heading into the 2023 season.
