Following the news last week that the Mountain West is looking to have a fall sports season after the COVID-19 postponements, the conference could announce the football season on Friday.
According to Brett McMurphy of Stadium, the Mountain West is optimistic about starting an 8-game season on Oct. 24.
University presidents will possibly vote on the decision Friday, although if the vote is delayed, the conference would then look to hold a 7-game season starting Oct. 31.
Last week, Fresno State President Dr. Joseph Castro said the university has a plan to bring student-athletes back to campus for potential games, meaning the Bulldogs and new head coach Kalen DeBoer should be good to go whenever a decision is made.
Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports reported Monday that the presidents could end up voting earlier in the week, which would solidify an 8-game schedule.
According to Thamel, the conference has a COVID-19 testing plan that incorporates frequent antigen testing.
