Fuego FC announced this week that it is launching its first-ever women’s program.
The women’s program will give women athletes, coaches and staff an opportunity to thrive in club soccer.
THe big picture: Fuego FC’s women’s program is designed to offer a local path for development and competition for women.
- Fresno has four collegiate women’s soccer programs, and girls’ soccer is popular at many high schools across the region.
- Fuego FC says its program will focus on comprehensive player development, professional mentorship and competitive play. The program will also emphasize the long-term impact on and off the field that women can have.
Go deeper: The women’s program team will be called Fuego Femenil and will play at Fuego FC’s training facility, where the Fuego U23 men’s team currently plays.
- Fuego FC is currently working on a stadium project to house both teams and will share those details in the coming months, with the goal of opening next year.
What they’re saying: “For years, the Central Valley has cultivated an extraordinary pool of women’s soccer talent,” said Fuego FC Brian Easler. “The launch of our women’s program is not only a celebration of that legacy – it’s a statement of intent. We are building a structure that will empower athletes, engage our community, and strengthen the foundation of the sport for generations to come.”
