Breaking down Madera Co.’s school board races

The Sun’s look at the contenders vying for Madera County school board seats.

Madera Unified School District

Only one seat on the Madera Unified School District Governing Board is contested on the November ballot.

The seat currently belongs to Ed McIntyre of Area 2.

McIntyre has served on the board since 2014 and is foregoing the chance at another term.

That leaves three candidates vying for his position: business owner Brent Fernandes, assistant engineer Alexis Raymundo and retired executive assistant Gladys Diebert.

While Area 2 is open, three current board members will have a walkover in November.

Area 4 representative Joetta Fleak, Area 5 representative Lucy Salazar and Area 7 representative Nadeem Ahmad are all running unopposed.
