California Gov. Gavin Newsom has appointed a new judge to the Fresno County Superior Court.
The big picture:Newsom announced Monday that he has appointed David Chiappetta to serve as a judge.
- Chiappetta, a Democrat, has been a partner at Perkins Coie since 2013.
- Prior to that, Chiappetta was special counsel at Corrs Chambers Westgarth from 2009 to 2013 and held various other positions at other law firms in the decades prior.
- He received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Washington School of Law.
Driving the news: The vacancy that Chiappetta is filling was made when Judge Arlan Harrell was elevated to the Court of Appeal.
