Audra McDonald returning to Fresno for solo performance

The Broadway star and Tony Award winner is returning home to perform at Warnors Theatre.

Broadway star Audra McDonald is returning to Fresno to celebrate where she got her start in performing arts. 

The Fresno native will return to the Central Valley in June. 

Driving the news: McDonald started performing at the age of nine with The Good Company Players, the Fresno-based performing arts organization that operates Roger Rocka’s Rocka’s Dinner Theatre. 

  • After leaving Fresno to attend The Juilliard School, McDonald started on broadway and won her first of six Tony awards in 1994 for her work in Carousel
  • The Good Company Players was founded in 1973 and is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. 

The big picture: McDonald will highlight The Good Company Players’ 50th anniversary season with a solo concert at Warnors Theatre in downtown Fresno on June 25 at 2 p.m.
