A woman tied to the M30 King of Fresno has been found guilty of trafficking fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine.
Last Friday, a federal jury found Alma Lucia Garza, 23, guilty of conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine. She was also found guilty for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and methamphetamine.
Driving the news: Throughout the four-day trial, evidence showed that Garza was a trusted assistant to the self-proclaimed M30 King of Fresno, Horacio Torrecillas Urias Jr.
- The duo conspired to obtain tens of thousands of counterfeit M30 fentanyl pills and large quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine directly from sources in Mexico from November 2021 to March 2022.
- Garza mailed a package of cocaine and methamphetamine to a co-defendant in New Mexico in January 2022. That package was seized by law enforcement before it arrived.
- One month later, Garza traveled with Torrecillas Urias to Sanger to deliver thousands of pills laced with fentanyl and methamphetamine. Those pills were seized by law enforcement just a couple days later during the execution of a residential search warrant.
Flashback: The investigation resulted in charges against Garza, Torrecillas Urias and 17 others.
- The Fentanyl Overdose Resolution Team led the investigation. The team is a multi-agency partnership with Homeland Security Investigations, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Fresno Police Department.
- The U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Clovis Police Department, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol and the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office also partnered in the investigation.
What we’re watching: Garza is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 6, 2025. She faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
