Fresno restaurant agrees to $2 million settlement for unpaid wages

A popular Asian restaurant in central Fresno was investigated by the state for underpaying its employees.

Last week the California Labor Commissioner’s Office announced a $2 million settlement with a Fresno restaurant for 32 employees.

Asian buffet Lin’s Fusion, located on Blackstone Ave. between Barstow and Shaw Avenues, violated state labor laws for underpaying its employees.

The big picture: The state began investigating the case in 2019 and found that workers, which included many immigrants, were paid in cash and not compensated for overtime, split shifts, meal periods and contract wages.

  • Anyone who worked at Lin’s Fusion between Sep. 26, 2016, and Sep. 26, 2019, should contact the Labor Commissioner’s Office as they may be entitled to owed wages and damages under the settlement.

What they’re saying: “When enforcement agencies work together, we are best able to protect workers,” said Labor Commissioner Lilia Garcia-Brower. “In this case systemic violations were detected, the perpetrating employer was held accountable, and workers are receiving owed wages. We look forward to continuing to collaborate on many cases to protect workers and law-abiding employers.”
