With teachers across the San Joaquin Valley already heading back to work for another school year, the checkout lines at school supply stores are starting to get lengthy.
With school budgets remaining slim for supplies, teachers nationwide are taking on the burden themselves to ensure students have necessary supplies.
However, this back-to-school season they’re receiving an added lift from generous donors across the country with a new viral social media campaign called “Clear the Lists.”
Many secondary teachers have established wish lists on Amazon filled with various additional supplies, books, and equipment that they are seeking to use with their students
The campaign, launched by Texas elementary teacher Courtney Jones on Twitter and Instagram, got an major boost when country music star Casey Donahew took up the mantle and helped clear the wish lists of 30 teachers.
Then he helped push fans to a GoFundMe to help pay for the cost of supplies for a much wider array of teacher wish lists.
The campaign thus far has spread outside of its Texas roots with a separate, arguably higher profile endorsement from reality star Khloe Kardashian.
