Jose Ramirez gets April date for next Fresno fight

Ramirez will fight in Fresno for the 11th time next month.

Avenal native Jose Ramirez is returning to the Save Mart Center. 

Ramirez (28-1, 18KOs) announced Tuesday that he will fight Cuban native Rances Barthelemy (30-2-1, 15KOs) on April 27. 

The big picture: This will be the first fight for Ramirez under Golden Boy Promotions, the boxing promoter led by Oscar De La Hoya. 

  • The fight will be streamed on DAZN, with the event starting at 7 p.m. 
  • Ramirez will be making his 11th fight in Fresno and 7th at the Save Mart Center, with his other bouts common at Selland Arena. 
  • Golden Boy Promotions will give out 3,000 ticket vouchers to farm workers for the fight. 
  • Along with the Ramirez fight, Vergil Ortiz Jr. (20-0, 20KOs) will fight Thomas Dulorme (26-6-1, 17KOs) as the event’s co-feature. 

What they’re saying: “It’s always an honor for me to fight in the Central part of California,” Ramirez said Tuesday. “I’m excited that people get to see what the Central Valley is all about.”
