Man with prior convictions sentenced to life in prison for murder

The ex-convict only served a fraction of his initial term in prison.

The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday that Raymond Guido, 32, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for murdering a Mexican man in Fresno.

The big picture: Guido was found guilty of murdering Luis Castillo, 40, who came to Fresno from Mexico to provide for his family that still lived in Mexico.

  • Castillo had been living with his sister in Fresno for less than three months when Guido robbed and murdered him on Dec. 30, 2022.
  • Guido had been on parole for just four months for an assault with a semi-automatic firearm at the time of the murder.
  • He served just two years and four months of a six-year state prison sentence.
  • Guido also had multiple prior convictions for other firearm and weapons offenses.
