King Charles diagnosed with cancer

The cancer was found while King Charles was undergoing treatment for an unrelated issue.

King Charles III has been diagnosed with cancer, according to a statement from Buckingham Palace.

Driving the news: Buckingham Palace said King Charles, 75, had a recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, and doctors found a separate issue of concern.

  • Follow-up tests identified a form of cancer.
  • Buckingham Palace did not say what kind of cancer King Charles was diagnosed with.

What they’re saying: “His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” Buckingham Palace said. “Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”
