Netflix strikes deal with WWE

Wrestling is headed to the most popular streaming service.

WWE’s weekly television show “Raw” will be moving to Netflix next year as part of a major streaming deal worth more than $5 billion.

Driving the news: The agreement between WWE and Netflix is for 10 years and includes an option for Netflix to extend the deal for an additional 10 years, with an opt-out available after the initial five years.

  • The move of “Raw” to Netflix will start in January 2025 and will impact viewers in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Latin America, and other territories. It will also eventually impact additional countries and regions.
  • This deal is considered transformative and will bring WWE’s weekly live appointment viewing to Netflix, expanding the reach of WWE on a global scale.
  • WWE’s documentaries, original series, and future projects will also be available on Netflix internationally starting in 2025.

What they’re saying: TKO CEO Ariel Emanuel believes that streaming platforms like Netflix are becoming another option alongside traditional television networks, stating, “This is the streaming play. For us, it’s the next step.”

  • Additionally, WWE announced a deal with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, giving him the rights to his nickname and adding him to the board of TKO Group.
