Shortly after announcing her candidacy for Assembly, Alexandra Macedo has now been endorsed by two big-name Republicans.
Driving the news: Former Rep. Connie Conway (R–Tulare), who also served as the Republican leader in the Assembly, endorsed Macedo for Assembly District 33 on Thursday
- Friday, Asm. Vince Fong (R–Bakersfield) also threw his weight behind Macedo, who launched her campaign after Asm. Devon Mathis (R–Visalia) announced his retirement at the end of his term.
What they’re saying: “Alexandra Macedo understands the challenges facing Central Valley farmers, businesses, and working families,” Conway said in her endorsement. “She is a farmer and small business owner with an education and real-world experience that we need to change the direction of our state. I am proud to put my support behind her campaign.”
- Fong echoed a similar sentiment to Conway, saying Macedo understands the most values most important to the Central Valley.
- “The Central Valley is her home and she will work tirelessly to make our community a better place to live and work,” Fong said. “She will fight for more water, affordable energy, and safer neighborhoods. I am proud to endorse Alexandra’s campaign and look forward to partnering with her to tackle California’s toughest challenges.”
