Hot air balloons galore: Keep an eye on the sky for 47th ClovisFest

Hot air balloons will take to the skies this weekend in Clovis as part of the 47th annual ClovisFest. 

Hot air balloons will take to the skies this weekend in Clovis as part of the 47th annual ClovisFest. 

The popular hot air balloons are set to lift off around 7 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday at the Clovis Rodeo Grounds ahead of the scheduled events for the day. 

ClovisFest organizers recommend that people arrive an hour early to get the best viewing positions. 

After the hot air balloons kick off the weekend, Old Town Clovis will host a packed schedule from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, including more than 250 craft and commercial vendor booths spanning over 12 city blocks. 

ClovisFest also is home to the International Village, which features live multicultural performances, storytelling and international food and wares booths. 

Live performances are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. over the weekend. 

Scheduled performances include the Polynesian Club of Fresno, Celtic Motion, Hula I Ka La Hawaii, the Fresno Basque Club and Danzantes Yoztalte, among many others. 

ClovisFest will also host the Made in Clovis and Children’s Business Fair, which showcases new businesses, technology, crafts and food invented by the local community. 

Other attractions include the Kids Zone, which offers a petting zoo, pony rides and renaissance performers from Kearney Renaissance Faire.
