A Lemoore-based retail marijuana dispensary associated with a Federal probe is changing ownership.
Monday, the Lemoore City Council approved the ownership change of Natural Healing Center to be taken over by Glass House.
According to city staff, Natural Healing Center is in good standing with the city, and Glass House has completed the required background check process through the Lemoore Police Department.
Glass House’s purchase of the Lemoore dispensary is part of a larger takeover of Natural Healing Center.
Glass House announced last week that it is purchasing the Natural Healing Center dispensaries in Lemoore and Morro Bay for $22.6 million in cash and stocks.
A third dispensary, located in Turlock, is currently under construction and will be acquired by Glass House when it is completed later this year.
Lemoore has collected $782,000 from the five percent excise tax the dispensary pays, and Natural Healing Center will continue to donate $24,000 annually to the city for local events and beautification projects, according to the city’s staff report.
The sale to Glass House comes after Natural Healing Center owner Helios Dayspring pleaded guilty in federal court to bribery and filing a false income tax return last year.
Dayspring faced charges of paying thousands of dollars in bribes to late San Luis Obispo Supervisor Adam Hill.
Court documents revealed that Dayspring gave Hill $29,000, cannabis products and purchased multiple meals for him in exchange for favorable votes that would be beneficial to Dayspring’s cannabis operations.
As part of his plea agreement, Dayspring agreed to pay $3.4 million in tax restitution and cooperate with the ongoing federal investigation.
