One of the most successful players in Fresno State football history has an opportunity this week to make another mark on NFL scouts this week.
Former Fresno State running back Ronnie Rivers was invited to the NFL Combine, which starts Thursday and will run through Sunday.
The NFL Combine is the annual showcase for players eligible to be drafted to perform various drills and tests in front of scouts from all 32 teams.
Rivers was the lone Bulldog to be invited this year to Indianapolis for the combine.
Running backs will take the field Friday for drills, giving Rivers an opportunity – in addition to his upcoming pro day at Bulldog Stadium – to perform for scouts.
Rivers played 52 games over five years at Fresno State, taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility provided by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
While he joined the Bulldogs in 2017 with high expectations being the son of former Fresno State great Ron Rivers, he left his own mark on the university over his career.
Rivers scored a program record 51 total touchdowns, seven more than former running back and the previous record holder Anthony Daigle.
He also topped former running back Ryan Mathews for the lead with 40 rushing touchdowns.
Rivers finished third in program history with 3,417 rushing yards as he averaged 5 yards per carry.
His ability as a receiver out of the backfield was one of his greatest strengths as he racked up 1,421 receiving yards.
