Play ball! Fresno State to open up baseball, softball games to 20% attendance

Fresno State is opening the doors to Beiden Field and Margie Wright Diamond after two weeks of testing fan attendance.

Fresno State is opening the doors to Beiden Field and Margie Wright Diamond, announcing Tuesday that it will spectators to occupy 20 percent capacity of the two venues – and other spring athletics facilities – effective Saturday.

The move comes two weeks after Fresno State tested allowing spectators into its stadia when Fresno County entered the Red Tier under Gov. Gavin Newsom’s coronavirus reopening scheme.

Baseball and softball tickets will go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m. Pacific on a first come, first serve basis. Tickets cost $5 per seat and purchasers are limited to four tickets per game.

No gameday ticket sales will be made, the university athletics department announced.

While Tuesday’s announcement specifically touches on spring sporting events, Fresno State’s athletics department did not elaborate on plans for in-person attendance for Fall sporting activities, including the football program.
