Evacuation warnings issued for Tulare Co. residents near Windy Fire

Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux issued an evacuation warning for communities near the Windy Fire in the Sequoia National Forest.

Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux issued an evacuation warning for communities near the Windy Fire in the Sequoia National Forest on Thursday.

The evactuation area includes Johnsondale and Camp Whitsett, from M107 at Dome Rock, east to Lloyd Meadow at Lower Peppermint Road, south to M99 at Sherman Pass Road, west to M107 and M50.

Local officials shuttered M107 between Aspen Dr. and M50 to aid in on-going firefighting efforts on the ground.

While the warning is voluntary, Tulare County residents in this area are encouraged to evacuate. Evacuation shelter information is available at Porterville College.
