Prosecutors charge ex-Bakersfield Condors trainer for contacting minor for sex

Chad Drown, the former head athletic trainer of the Bakersfield Condors was charged this week with two felonies for attempting to meet a minor to commit a sex act. 

Chad Drown, the former head athletic trainer of the Bakersfield Condors was charged this week with two felonies for attempting to meet a minor to commit a sex act. 

Drown was arrested by the Kern County Sheriff’s office in October and promptly fired by the Condors. 

According to reports, Drown’s arrest was part of a sting operation by the sheriff’s office. 

“Earlier today, we became aware that Bakersfield Condors Head Athletic Trainer, Chad Drown, had been charged with very serious felony (offenses) related to contacting a minor to committ a sexual (offense) in the state of California,” the condors said in a statement after Drown’s arrest. “We are shocked and dismayed by the news and Mr. Down has been relieved of his duties immediately.” 

Drown posted bail at $57,500. 

He will be arraigned in court on Nov. 14.
