Rawhide continue season opener skid against Lake Elsinore

The Visalia Rawhide (0-3) remain winless following an offensive struggle with the Lake Elsinore Storm at Valley Strong Ballpark on Thursday evening.

The Storm jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in just two frames. However, Visalia’s offense picked up the pace, narrowing the lead to 5-4 by the conclusion of the fourth inning.

In the sixth inning a pick-off attempt by Rawhide catcher Manuel Garcia was overthrown to stealing baserunner Jordy Barley. The error proved costly as Barley rounded two additional bases to increase the Storm’s lead to 6-4.

An inning later, Lake Elsinore picked up another run courtesy of a Robert Hassell home run,

In the bottom of the frame, Visalia’s Andy Yerzy answered back, smacking a two-run dinger off of Storm reliever Miguel Rondon.

Ultimately, the Rawhide couldn’t catch-up, falling for their third straight 9-7.

The Rawhide continue their opening homestand at 6 p.m. on Friday.
