Despite there being a crowded field looking to succeed Sen. Laphonza Butler, only four candidates have been invited to debate on Monday.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D–Burbank), former baseball star Steve Garvey, Rep. Katie Porter (D–Irvine) and Rep. Barbara Lee (D–Oakland) will take the debate stage in Los Angeles.

What we’re watching: The first debate in the Senate race will be held at the University of Southern California from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Local FOX television affiliates in Los Angeles and the Bay Area will air the debate. Other parts of the state can view it on POLITICO’s website.
- Fox 11 News anchor Elex Michaelson and Politico senior political reporter Melanie Mason will moderate the debate.
