Woodlake Mayor Rudy Mendoza announced Wednesday that he is running for the Tulare County Board of Supervisors.
Mendoza will run for the District 4 seat, which is currently occupied by Eddie Valero.
Driving the news: Along with serving as the Mayor of Woodlake, Mendoza is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Tulare County Association of Governments, where he has a hand in transportation projects for the region.
- Mendoza is the CEO of an agricultural company and a small business owner.
- He also worked as the District Director for former Rep. Devin Nunes (R–Tulare).
State of play: Mendoza, a Republican, will challenge Valero, assuming he runs for reelection.
- Valero was first elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2018 and reelected in 2022.
What he’s saying: “Our county deserves strong, effective leadership that prioritizes public safety, economic development, water resiliency and infrastructure,” Mendoza said. “I am committed to working tirelessly to ensure Tulare County continues to thrive and that every resident has the opportunity to succeed.”
- Mendoza said his campaign will focus on addressing issues such as housing, transportation and water security, as well as supporting law enforcement and fostering economic development.
- “Tulare County is at a crossroads, and we need leadership that can bring people together, find solutions and deliver results,” Mendoza said. “I have spent my career advocating for our region, and I am ready to continue that work as your next County Supervisor.”
