Radanovich leads in Assembly District 8, Tangipa holds 35-vote lead for second

Incoming ballots over the next few weeks will determine if David Tangipa or Caleb Helsel will join Radanovich on the November ballot.

Former Congressman George Radanovich has secured a first place finish in the primary election for Assembly District 8.

Republican David Tangipa holds a very narrow lead over Democrat Caleb Helsel for second place and a spot on the November ballot.

The big picture: Radanovich has a solid lead at 36.8 percent, which will send him to November.

  • Tangipa, who has the support of Asm. Jim Patterson (R–Fresno), is in second place as of the latest results on Wednesday at 30.1 percent.
  • Helsel also has 30.1 percent of the vote, but is currently only 35 votes behind Tangipa.
  • Michael Matheson, the only other candidate in the race, has three percent.
