Two Fresno residents busted for retail theft in Hanford

The two suspects had thousands of dollars of property from three stores.

Two Fresno residents were arrested on Saturday for stealing merchandise from the Home Depot in Hanford. 

Hanford Police recovered the stolen merchandise and found items from Harbor Freight and Hobby Lobby as well.

The big picture: Saturday afternoon the Hanford Police Department received a call from Home Depot regarding a male and a female who stole tools. 

  • They fled in a white BMW with paper plates. 
  • Officers were already in the area and performed an enforcement stop on Greenfield Ave. and 12th Ave. 
  • They detained the suspects, Luis Martinez and Mandy Mares, and found over $20,000 of property from Home Depot, Harbor Freight and Hobby Lobby. 
  • Martinez and Mares were arrested and booked into the Kings County Jail for retail theft. Martinez also had a suspended license for a prior DUI.
