Kings Co. updates website domain to comply with new state standard

Kings County’s website will now be found under a .gov domain.

Kings County is updating its website domain in a move it says will uphold the integrity and security of its online presence to better serve the community.

Tuesday, the Kings County Board of Supervisors voted to transition the domain from .com to .gov.

The big picture: Kings County’s website will transition from countyofkings.com to countyofkingsCA.gov.

  • The transition puts the county in alignment with the state requirement for all cities and counties to use a .gov domain by 2029.

What they’re saying: “This transition will not only enhance the trustworthiness of the County of Kings’ online resources, but also ensure seamless continuity of services,” said Supervisor Doug Verboon. “Following the transition, existing email addresses and website domains will remain operational indefinitely, ensuring minimal disruption for users.”
