A small number of ballots in Fresno County sent voters to the wrong precinct, meaning they voted for certain candidates that may not represent where they live.
Fresno County is addressing the issue and conducting an investigation.
The big picture: Fresno County Clerk/Registrar of Voters James Kus announced Tuesday that 11 people were affected by the error.
- Those voters were mailed or provided a ballot for their incorrect registration precincts.
What they’re saying: “The Department is currently investigating the specifics regarding how and why these voters were assigned to the incorrect registration precincts,” the county said in a statement.
- The statement continued, “The Department will provide further information once our investigation advances. Once the facts are determined after the investigation, the Department will take all appropriate measures to protect Fresno County voters and prevent the assignment of incorrect precincts.”
