Report: Sam’s Italian Deli to open second location in Fresno

Nick Marziliano gets asked “a dozen times a day” when he will open up a second location.

Sam’s Italian Deli and Market is reportedly planning to expand its operations, opening up another location in addition to the current deli in central Fresno.

The Business Journal first reported the expansion.

The big picture: According to the report, Sam’s Italian Deli owner Nick Marziliano has signed a letter of intent to lease a space in north Fresno at Villaggio Shopping Center.

  • The new location will be close to 8,000 square feet and be where the current Sierra Nut House is located, along with two more spots next to Ulta Beauty.
  • Sierra Nut House closed its other location in northeast Fresno last month but had planned to keep the Villagio location open.
  • Marziliano told The Business Journal that the Sierra Nut House lease at Villagio is up at the end of the year, and he plans to open up in 2025.
  • Marziliano’s father, Sam, started the deli in 1980 at Clinton Ave. and First St.

What they’re saying: “I probably get asked a dozen times a day, ‘When are you going to add another location?’” Marziliano told The Business Journal. “When this opportunity came along… I just felt it was the right time to expand Sam’s.
