Nexstar taps former KMPH general manager to lead two Fresno stations

Matt Morse is returning to his hometown to head up all broadcast and digital operations for Fresno’s NBC and CBS affiliates.

Nexstar Media Group, the company that operates KSEE 24 and CBS 47 in Fresno, has named Matt Morse as Vice President and General Manager.

Morse takes over the top job for the two Fresno stations and will report to Senior Vice President and Regional Manager Matthew Rosenfeld, who previously was general manager up to 2019.

Driving the news: This is not Morse’s first general manager job in the Fresno market, since he previously led KMPH and KFRE from December 2019 to November 2022.

  • He was most recently the Sales Manager at KRON in San Francisco and has held a number of leadership and sales management positions in Kansas City, Portland, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles.
  • Further, Morse helped facilitate several St. Jude dream home giveaways in Fresno, raising nearly $11 million for the organization. Morse has also served on the board of directors for Friends of the Fresno County Library, Transition Children’s Services and the Fresno Rescue Mission.

What they’re saying: Rosenfeld called Morse a highly regarded leader who has a distinguished background with over 20 years of television experience.

  • “He has built lasting relationships in the Fresno area through his dedication to addressing the needs and priorities of local communities,” Rosenfeld said in a statement. “Matt is a trusted partner who is passionate about fostering the success of local businesses across the Central Valley. Moreover, his proven ability to drive sales performance and surpass revenue goals through creative, multi-platform marketing strategies makes him an invaluable asset to our team and business partners.”
  • Morse said he is honored to return to Fresno to lead the two stations.
  • “This is a unique opportunity to serve the vibrant and diverse communities of California’s Central Valley,” Morse said in a statement. “KSEE-TV, KGPE-TV, and YourCentralValley.com are essential pillars in the region, and I am committed to building on their strong foundation by enhancing our local news coverage, delivering compelling and unique programming, and providing innovative, results-driven marketing solutions that empower our business partners to thrive.”
