Fresno Chamber backs Karbassi in City Council special election

Fresno Chamber President Nathan Ahle said that as a small business owner, Karbassi understands the challenges facing Fresno’s business community.

Small businessman Mike Karbassi picked up the endorsement of the Fresno Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday.

Karbassi is running in the upcoming special election for the District 2 seat vacated by current Fresno County Supervisor Steve Brandau.

Fresno Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Nathan Ahle said in a release that as a small business owner, Karbassi has a unique understanding of the challenges the business community in Fresno faces.

“Through his campaign so far, he has proven that he will be a tireless advocate for both the citizens and businesses of District 2,” Ahle said. “For these reasons, the Fresno Chamber of Commerce is proud to support his City Council campaign.”

Karbassi faces four other candidates for the seat: businessman Lawrence Garcia, attorney Jared Gordon, special needs therapist Oscar Sandoval and businessman George Herman.

The special election will be held on August 13.
