Las Vegas Metro Police and FBI agents searched two homes in east Las Vegas early Saturday morning after reports of a possible biological laboratory.
Further investigation has revealed growing ties between the home and the man responsible for the illegal, Chinese-run bio lab in Reedley that was exposed in 2023.
The backstory: The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said that SWAT officers and the FBI conducted searches in the area of East Washington Avenue and North Hollywood Boulevard just before 6 a.m. on Saturday.
- Investigators found evidence suggesting possible biological material at a residence on Sugar Springs Drive, including refrigerators containing unknown liquids, Sheriff Kevin McMahill said.
- Police confirmed at least one person has been arrested. McMahill said the individual is not being identified at this time.
Records point back to Reedley: Clark County property records identified the home’s owner as David Destiny Discovery, LLC, a business registered to David He through the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office.
- David He and his company, David Destiny Discovery, LLC, were previously named in a federal investigation regarding an alleged illegal biological laboratory in Reedley.
- Federal prosecutors in that case identified “David He” as an alias for Jia Bei Zhu, who was arrested and charged in October 2023 in connection with the Reedley warehouse.
- In Las Vegas, McMahill said at least one person was arrested in the ongoing investigation but did not release a name.
- According to ABC News, the arrested individual was a property manager, though officials have not confirmed the person’s identity.
- A search of Clark County Detention Center records as of Sunday did not indicate either David He or Jia Bei Zhu in custody.
