Charges have been filed against a man accused of attacking a City of Fresno employee last week.
The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office announced on Tuesday that it filed charges against Dyllan James Padavona, 30, who is also known as Dyllan James Hopkins.
Driving the news: Last Friday, Padavona allegedly approached city worker Timothy Smith and struck him in the back of the head with a blunt object.
- Smith was on the clock for the city at the time of the assault.
- Smith was transported to Community Regional Medical Center and had emergency surgery. He currently remains in critical condition.
- Padavona already had multiple failures to appear in a felony case and multiple misdemeanor cases in warrant status.
- Padavona’s bail is set at $554,000.
The big picture: The District Attorney’s Office charged Padavona with one count of attempted murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon.
- Padavona also faces enhancements for causing great bodily injury and for committing a crime while released on his own recognizance.
What we’re watching: Padavona faces 12 years to life in state prison if he is convicted.
- He is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
