Catholic Diocese of Fresno to ordain six priests 

The largest class the diocese has had in six decades comes amid a severe priest shortage in the U.S.

Six men will be ordained priests in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fresno on Saturday. 

That marks the largest class of priests in the diocese in 60 years.

Driving the news: Bishop Joseph Brennan will ordain six men to the priesthood at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Visalia at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. 

  • This comes while the Roman Catholic is struggling nationwide with a severe shortage of priests. 
  • The Ordination Mass is open to the public. 

What they’re saying: “We are very thankful that these men answered the call to the priesthood,” Brennan said in a statement. “We are confident that the diverse group of men will humbly serve this diverse Valley.”
