Scrivner’s restraining order hearing postponed

The former Kern County Supervisor will not appear in court until next year.

Former Kern County Supervisor Zach Scrivner will not appear in court until February.

Scrivner had a hearing scheduled for Monday for a domestic violence restraining order.

The big picture: The hearing was postponed on Monday by Kern County Superior Court Judge Tanya Richard.

  • Scrivner’s attorney, Robert Carbone, asked Richard to postpone the hearing since the criminal investigation into the former supervisor is pending. An attorney representing Scrivner’s wife was also not available on Monday.
  • Neither Scrivner nor his wife, Christina Scrivner, appeared in court on Monday.

The backstory: Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood announced in April that Scrivner was stabbed by one of his children for allegedly assaulting one of his other children.

  • Scrivner resigned in August after disappearing from the board since April and made his only public appearance a few days later during a court hearing on Zoom. Scrivner agreed to pay child support during that hearing.
  • He currently has a temporary restraining order placed on him to prevent him from contacting his children.
  • There have been no criminal charges filed against Scrivner. The California Attorney General’s Office has been investigating the incident.
