Kern DA recovers Sinclair statue, stolen equipment

Kern County’s Measure K funded the investigators who recovered the stolen items.

Last Friday, the Kern County District Attorney’s Office recovered over $100,000 in stolen equipment in Oildale.

That included an eight-foot DINO statue seen at Sinclair gas stations.

The big picture: Along with the DINO statue, investigators found gas pumps and card readers that have been linked to a series of thefts throughout Kern County.

  • Investigators also recovered two stolen vehicles.
  • Dustin Hering, 45, was arrested for multiple counts of being in possession of stolen property.
  • The investigation was funded by Measure K, which was implemented under District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer’s Justice for Kern program.

What they’re saying: “Thanks to the ‘Justice for Kern’ program, a specialized team of investigators are combating crime head-on in unincorporated areas of Kern County,” Zimmer said. “Residents in these areas can rest assure that we are dedicated to making communities safer and protecting crime victims.”
