The Bakersfield man committed a smash-and-grab when the post office was closed.

A Bakersfield man will spend the next two years in prison for burglarizing a post office with a hatchet.

The big picture: Shawn Van Dixon, 39, was sentenced to 24 months in prison by U.S. District Judge John Mendez for burglarizing a post office in Caliente.
