For the third time in three years, one San Joaquin Valley eatery ranked among the top 50 in the nation.

Harris Ranch Inn & Hotel, the Coalinga-based restaurant and resort, rang in at 33rd, its highest-ever on the Top 100 Independents list.

The pub surveys eateries with fewer than five locations on their gross food and beverage sales, average check price, and number of meals served during the year.

The magazine last published its survey for business conducted in 2019. Its 2022 survey is comprised of 2021 sales.

Harris Ranch did $18.8 million in total food and beverage sales last year.

Those sales came from over 640,000 meals served with an average check of $29.

Harris Ranch was one of 11 restaurants from the list in California and also earned the highest ranking from the Golden State.

It has seen a significant post-pandemic bump in sales, based on past placement in the publication’s Top 100 rankings.

In the 2020 survey (of 2019 sales), Harris Ranch ranked 47th with $17.6 million in sales. In 2019, it placed 45th at $17.3 million in sales.

The locally-owned independent restaurant offers 480 seats to diners.
