Madera Community College Center has an opportunity to join Fresno City College, Clovis Community College and Reedley College as full colleges in the State Center Community College District.

The commission visited Madera Community College Center in October and found that the school was generally in compliance with eligibility requirements, accreditation standards, commission policies and U.S. Department of Education regulations.

Madera Community College Center’s next step is to submit a follow up report by Oct. 1, 2021, that addresses four issues the commission needs to see compliance in:

  • Establish institution-set standards for student achievement, appropriate to its mission, assess how well it is achieving them and publish this information.
  • Establish institutional learning outcomes in order to assess the accomplishment of its mission through program review and evaluation of goals and objectives.
  • Integrate program review planning and resource allocation into a comprehensive process that leads to accomplishment of its mission and improvement of institution effectiveness and academic quality.
  • Publish its own College Catalog.

Once the follow up report is completed, the commission will visit the college, and if everything checks out, Madera Community College Center will be granted full college status.

Madera Community College Center started classes in 1988 in a partnership with Madera High School, and the center officially opened in 1996. On May 20, 2019, Angel Reyna became the first on-campus president in school history.

The commission also reaffirmed accreditation for Fresno City College, Reedley College and Clovis Community College. The colleges will be required to submit another report in Oct. 2022 and will undergo a comprehensive review in the spring of 2025.
