The big picture: Christian Delgado from Bullard High School, Kimmy Liu from Edison High School and Juan Diaz Montes from Sunnyside High School will each be awarded a $10,000 scholarship.

  • The $30,000 contribution from Amazon is the single largest donation for Fresno Unified scholarships.
  • Fresno Unified has awarded nearly $2 million in scholarships since the program started in 2009, with $400,000 being awarded to 289 graduates this year.
  • An additional $24,000 in other scholarships brings the total to $424,000 to 292 graduates, the largest amount handed out in district history.

What they’re saying: “I am thrilled that three of our most deserving students will receive $10,000 scholarships, thanks to the generosity of Amazon,” said interim superintendent Misty Her. “This kind of support will go a long way towards relieving some of the financial burden for our students as they head off to college. We are also grateful for Amazon’s continuing partnership in a variety of areas.”
