The governor’s remarks will be pre-recorded and delivered digitally, with Newsom opting to forgo an in-person speech.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom will deliver his State of the State address on Tuesday.

The address will be pre-recorded and premiered simultaneously on the governor’s social media channels and website.

The big picture: The speech will be available to stream on YouTube, Facebook, and X at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

  • The address comes after state leaders reached a budget agreement to close a $47 billion shortfall in a $298 billion spending plan.
  • The delayed address was originally scheduled for March and was postponed due to the governor awaiting the results of Proposition 1.

Flashback: Newsom did not deliver a State of the State address last year, instead opting to send a letter to the Legislature and going on a tour around the state for four days.

  • In 2022, Newsom invited lawmakers to hear his speech in a large auditorium in Sacramento.
  • During the COVID-19 pandemic he delivered the address from Dodger Stadium, focusing on brighter days ahead for the Golden State.
