Exxon Mobil posts lower revenue than expected

The oil company’s fourth quarter numbers came down from a year before.

Exxon Mobil reported declines in its revenue and profits in the fourth quarter of last year because of falling crude oil prices. 

Driving the news: Exxon Mobil’s revenue in the fourth quarter decreased to $84.34 billion from $95.43 billion. 

  • Analysts at Zacks Investment Research projected that Exxon Mobil would have $95.43 billion in revenue. 
  • Profit came in at $7.63 billion, down from $12.75 billion a year before.
