Millions of people throughout California will see a lower utility bill for October.
The California Climate Credit fund is set to deliver an average credit of $71 to over 11.5 million people this month.
The big picture: California’s climate credit, funded by the Cap-and-Trade Program, is delivering an average of $217 in credits throughout 2024, which includes credits that were delivered in April for electricity and natural gas.
- The program has delivered over $14 billion in credits over the last decade.
- Credits range from $32.24 to $174.25, depending on which utility provider residents are customers of.
Zoom in: Most of the Central Valley will receive a $55.17 credit in October, which will appear on the Pacific Gas and Electric Bills.
- Southern California Edison customers will have an $86 credit on their bills this month.
- Four other utilities will also deliver credits to their customers: San Diego Gas & Electric at $78.22, Bear Valley at $32.24, Liberty at $131.01 and Pacific Power at $174.25.

Gavin Newsom said in a statement. “Not only does this credit provide much-needed relief for families, it’s helping Californians make the switch to cleaner energy.”
